Christmas Blues? This One’s For You

christmas blues

It’s funny.

Yesterday, I wrote about working less and spending more quality time with the people you love.

I then proceeded to work my ass off all day long.

I didn’t intend to, either.

But a fire appeared that I had to put out — and it meant digging into my work a little deeper than I expected.

It really pissed me off, too.

But here’s the thing…

I know myself pretty well. And I also know that I can get pretty salty when things don’t go the way I want them to.

I have no problem admitting that, but I also know it’s a problem I have to work on.

I overreacted to people I care about.

I was short and withdrawn with the people in my home.

And for a moment there, I was venomous and downright nasty. Enough to get me put on the other side of the list, if you know what I’m sayin’ 😉

Anyway, the reason I’m telling you this is simple.

If you feel yourself getting overwhelmed over the holidays…

Or if you start to get frustrated, agitated, or annoyed…

Or if you start to feel your blood boiling, even a little bit…

Take a deep breath, release it slowly, and repeat these words:

I am more than my emotions.
I am love and I am light.
I am allowing these feelings to pass.
I am better off because of it.

Then, when you’re done, go rejoin the people you love.

Make them laugh. Make them smile. Make them feel your calm and peaceful presence.

Because at the end of the day…

No matter where your feelings take you…

Everything that matters is all right there.

So shake it off, let it go, and then go forth and make the most of it.

And oh yea, Merry Friggin’ Christmas 🙂
