This morning, I woke up to a message on Medium.com.
It was from an editor of one of the publications. I won’t name which. But he wanted to inform me they weren’t going to publish my article in their publication. He said he wanted it to be more “in-depth” and “thorough.”
Well, that ain’t gonna happen, dude.
First of all, he’s the one who approached me to submit my articles. So he already knew what my articles were like.
Second, these articles are one-offs, baby.
Every morning, I sit down at my desk and pump one of these bad boys out in 30 minutes flat. I rarely revisit them unless I’m writing a series or a collection. Meaning there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell I’m going to spend my time making one more “thorough.”
Yesterday’s article was yesterday’s.
Today’s today’s.
Tomorrow’s tomorrow’s.
Always forward.
Never back.
Just the way I like it.
And you know what? That’s the way you should like it, too.
Too often, people try to force us into their own mold. They tell us we have to be a certain way or else we’re not allowed to play in the same sandbox.
Well, to hell with their sandbox!
Make your own.
Bring your own toys.
Have a blast.
Do things YOUR way.
Life’s too short to always be bending to other’s rules.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
