A while back, I was camping with my family.
We were at a beautiful little campground 10 minutes outside of Revelstoke, Canada.
Astonishing turquoise water. Striking mountain backdrops. Playgrounds, watercraft rentals, this place had it all.
But I remember walking around on the 2nd day and getting struck by this putrid smell. I mean absolutely revolting. It was enough to make most people gag, and for some, even hurl.
It was pretty gross stuff.
Anyway, I ended up tracing the smell back to the garbage. Which, at campgrounds, ends up being this big rotting pile of uneaten food and other outback waste. So it’s not very surprising for it to smell that way.
But this time it really struck me.
And not because the smell literally struck me…
But because it made me start to think about all the ‘garbage’ people allow to rot away in their minds.
Mindless memes and social media posts.
Mainstream news and propagandist narratives.
Venting, gossiping, complaining, and moaning.
All fueling vicious cycles of fear, worry, anxiety, and hate.
AKA: Garbage.
And the longer people allow this ‘garbage’ to rot away in their minds, the worse off they get.
Their attitudes suffer.
They start to become Negative Nancys and Pessimistic Petes.
And within no time at all, everything about them becomes this big smelly mess.
Don’t allow that to happen to you.
Make sure you clean up the garbage.
Better yet, don’t even let it pile up in the first place.
Keep a clean mind.
Keep a clean spirit.
And I promise you’ll be much better off because of it.
