I haven’t said anything yet because it’s still too early to tell.
But I’m pretty sure I’ve cracked the “wake up early” code.
I was up and out of bed at 5 AM every single day without a hitch for the past 54 days. That’s by far the longest I’ve ever made it. My goal is to make it to 60.
But — and this is a BIG BUT…
When I woke up this morning, something felt a little off. So I scrambled for my phone to check the time.
When I found it, I couldn’t believe my eyes…
It was 6 am!
My heart sank.
Immediately, I felt a wave of failure — like I had just let myself down in this massive, unforgivable way.
“54 days down the drain, just like that,” I thought to myself, “How could I let that happen?”
But then it hit me.
I made a mistake. That’s all.
I slipped up and wasn’t as on-the-ball as I should have been.
That’s no reason to count me out.
Heck, that’s no reason to think I even failed.
The truth is…
The road to your goals will be paved with many different ‘failures.’ You’ll slip up every now and then. You’ll do things the wrong way. You’ll forget to do something you know you should have done.
That’s human. It’s GOING to happen.
But it’s not a reason to stop.
It’s not a reason to check-out.
It’s not a reason to check yourself out.
All it is is an opportunity for you to look at where you went wrong and then make a plan so it never happens again.
It’s an opportunity for you to get better and become more formidable and capable in the process.
Yes, I ruined my 54-day “wake up early” streak this morning.
But who cares?
As long as I keep at it and continue waking up early TOMORROW, it’s almost like it never happened in the first place.
I AM a 5 am Dan, after all.
And one little bump in the road isn’t going to change that.
