The Luckiest Man Alive

the luckiest man alive

Right now, I’m sitting in my tent at a beautiful little campground in British Columbia.

The wind is breezing.

The birds are chirping.

And I can hear the strong current of Kokanee Creek off in the distance.

I’m surrounded by nature.

I’m feeling inspired.

I’m the luckiest man alive.

My wife and daughter left to fetch some breakfast and coffee.

Pancakes would be awfully good right now.

They left me behind because I had some ‘work’ to do — which is basically the equivalent of what I’m doing right now… writing words on a page.

In fact, before I started writing this, I wrote something else.

Something I was paid for.

Something that helped me grow.

Something I rather enjoyed doing.

Did I mention I’m the luckiest man alive?

Truly I’m honored to live the life I live.

But I also meticulously designed it this way.

I started from the end and worked my back…

 — “What am I striving for?”
— “What’s most important to me?”
— “What moments should I make sure to never miss?”

And with those answers, I started building.

That’s why I’m here doing what I’m doing.

Working where I want.

Working when I want.

Enjoying every moment of life.

And doing it with the people I love.

Sometimes, I feel like I ‘cracked the code’ — and in many ways, I have.

You can, too.

Just start with what’s important to you and design your life around that.

You don’t have to wait.

You can have it all right now.

And I should know…

I’m living, breathing, walking proof of it 😉

But I gotta go — the beautiful lake to my left is calling.
