What kind of personal development ambassador would I be if I didn’t talk about goals on December 31st?
Answer: A pretty lame one.
That’s why today, we’re gonna talk about ‘em.
So without further ado…
Here’s the nasty truth about setting goals:
First, they’re not something you should decide on all willy-nilly. They should be carefully crafted to represent the ideals you’re striving for. Meaning you need to give them the time they deserve.
In other words…
Just because it’s the last day of the year doesn’t mean you should rush yourself. If you do, your goals won’t really mean anything to you. Which, in turn, will make them harder to achieve.
Don’t do that.
Instead, take some time to reflect on where you want to go.
An easy way to do this is to look at all the different areas of your life. Then ask yourself: How do you want them to be different? In what ways do you think you can improve them? If everything worked out perfectly for you, what would your life look like then?
Your answers will give you a target to aim at.
Here are some areas you may want to reflect on:
— Health
— Career
— Finances
— Relationships
— Marriage
— Parenting
— Experiences
— And so on
If it takes you a few days — or even a few weeks — to figure it all out, then so be it!
This isn’t about setting goals for the sake of setting goals.
This is about setting goals that mean something to you…
AND will help you improve your life once you achieve them.
And remember: Less is more here — meaning one goal achieved is far better than 12 that aren’t.
So start small.
Start winning.
And then, aim HIGHER.
The more intentional you are with your goals, the more intentional your life will become.
So take your time with them.
And then go forth and make them so.
