Writers often wonder how to overcome ‘writer’s block.’
Well, what if I told you writer’s block doesn’t even exist?
What if I told you it was all just a fabrication created by someone who didn’t know what to write about in the first place?
You might not believe me, but that doesn’t make it any less true.
And the funny thing is…
The more you ‘buy-in’ to the notion that writer’s block does exist…
The more you fall victim to its tight and phantom clutches.
Every time you hit a snag… or don’t know to put on the page… or have trouble coming up with an idea… you’ll chalk it up as ‘the block’ and think nothing else of it.
Don’t let it be your excuse!
Instead, say “Writer’s block be damned!” and just keep writing.
Write about not being able to write. Write about your lack of ideas. Write blah blah blah blah blah on the page until your mind gets kicked into gear. Soon enough, the words will start flowing again. But NOT if you sit there and do nothing.
Think about it this way…
When was the last time you were having a conversation and had to pause in the middle because of ‘talker’s block’?
Never ever ever ever?
That would be silly, wouldn’t it?
Well, writer’s block is basically the same.
Just keep on writing and eventually, you’ll get back on track.
The ‘block’ is only as real as you allow it to be.
